Southern Stingray (Dasyatis americana)

The Southern Stingray is a bottom feeder, collecting crabs, clams, a variety of other small invertebrates and even small fish that they sift from the sand and crush with their strong jaws. They often lie buaried under the sand, becoming nearly invisible to the snorkeler above.
